Who is invited to participate?
- Members wanting to race, or learn to race, in a Flying Scot
- Members prepared to commit to participating in season long Flying Scot sailing events
- Members prepared to commit to the team by
- Participating in a majority of scheduled Flying Scot events
- Supporting the team through practice and dependable participation in performance enhancing events
- Members prepared to take custody of an assigned Flying Scot with respect to maintenance, cleaning, and race preparation.
What are the parameters for participation?
- Pay Flying Scot Bombers Fleet dues ($20 annually).
- Form a team. Find other club members interested in one design racing in our fleet boats. Ryan Gaskin (Fleet Captain), Allan Gowns, and other current fleet members can assist program applicants with team building efforts.
- Identify your team to Ryan or Allan as soon as you have achieved a firm commitment to participate. Teams will be assigned a boat on a first come first served basis.
- Your team commitment should be for an entire season (one year).
What are the conditions and obligations for use of a fleet boat?
- Fleet boats may be used by the assigned team only for team practice and organized Flying Scot sailing events.
- Teams must be able to
- tow the boat to and from the launch ramp.
- launch and retrieve the boat safely.

- safely depart and return to the dock under sail.
- Once assigned to a team, the team is responsible for routine maintenance and cleaning of the boat.
- Repair broken or defective gear as follows:
- For repairs resulting from normal wear and tear, consult with your Fleet captain for any assistance and for obtaining any necessary gear or parts. Be sure to report suspect parts or gear before it breaks if it appears to be suspect.
- If the team breaks it, the team replaces or repairs it. Consult with your Fleet Captain for guidance in the process.
Should you choose to join our One Design Flying Scot racing program, your Fleet Captain and fellow fleet members are prepared to help you in any way we can to achieve your team goals.
We will coach you at any level, basic or advanced. If you have no experience towing trailers, we can help with that too. All we ask is your serious commitment to learn, work together as a team, and participate regularly in our racing program.
