Continuing Development

Youth camp graduates and youth sailors who have mastered essential sailing skills will have the opportunity to continue sailing in the LMSC/LMSA Advanced Sailing and Racing Teams. LMSC and LMSA sponsor these programs to introduce young people into the sport of sailing.

Sailing is a lifetime activity.

Young sailors can reasonably expect to enjoy the sport into their seventies and beyond. We hope this program will open the eyes of our youth to the fun, excitement, and individual accomplishment the sport offers and help them appreciate the great local resource represented by Lake Murray.

Lake Murray Sailing Club facilities

The Lake Murray Sailing Club was founded in 1969. Situated on 11 acres on a large cove with a modern clubhouse complimenting the rural character of the area, the grounds include a large, grassy lakefront for picnicking and a swimming area. More than 100 families hold membership in the club. Sailing interests range from casual cruising to very competitive racing.

LMSC promotes sailing through an active racing schedule and camps for men, women, teens, and kids. The club sponsors community-wide “Learn to Sail” programs for novices just entering sailing and has partnered with Lake Murray Sailing Association (LMSA), a charitable foundation, to sponsor community based youth sailing programs. Our summer Youth Camp and year round Youth Sailing are two such programs.
