Who are we?
LMSA is a volunteer based, non-profit corporation formed in South Carolina and recognized by the IRS as a charitable 501(c)(3) organization. It is a unique organization co-located with a very active sailing club operating since 1969 in the midlands of South Carolina. Because of it’s charitable nature, any donations to LMSA can reduce the taxable income of any contributing individual or company.
What do we do?
LMSA is a youth oriented organization dedicated to teaching leadership and life skills by utilizing one-design boats and competitive racing as teaching tools. In addition, the association serves as the instructional arm of the club allowing resources to be leveraged between the two.
Where are we?
LMSA is co-located with Lake Murray Sailing Club at the club’s facilities in Chapin South Carolina. The grounds, buildings, docks, and lake access provide an unparalleled combination to help LMSA with its mission.
When are we here?
Because of the excellent weather and available facilities, LMSA is able to conduct training throughout the year. Obviously, some days are better than others during the winter but rarely does a week go by that an event is not in a planning or active phase. This includes, December, January and February.
Why are we here?
Our mission is to work with area youth to achieve life and leadership skills. Our program is tough, meaningful and singularly focused on the development of the individual. We hope to produce “Championship People”. If we produce a “Championship Sailor” in the process, so much the better.
